Keep the main search bar for students
easier to search for an individual student when search bar was available

We changed to just one search screen because more people used the advanced search screen and MiSiS could not continue to maintain two separate search screens. Users can enter just the first name, last name, or student id.

Definitely! The universal search bar was at least an order of magnitude more efficient for searching for students than this higher resolution search method that forces the user to mentally chop up and properly input either the first or last name (or other search terms) into the correct search box. I dare to suggest that most people who are searching for a student would find it a whole lot easier to just put in whatever name (whether first or last) of a student that they are searching for. Furthermore, it is more efficient for the vast majority to just click on the one search box to make it active and begin typing rather than visually need to identify which box is for the first name and which box is for the last name and then think about which name (first or last) they will choose to enter. I understand that this higher resolution search function will enable higher resolution searches, but most people don't need that. At least give the users the option of choosing this higher resolution search method, like Welligent does. But the default should be the universal search box. I'd like to hear a convincing argument for the other side. Anyone?
