Automated Attendance Calls Home are Scary
Can you imagine getting a call that says, "Your child was either one minute late to school or absent. If you have any questions, please call the school." That is essentially the message these automated phone calls scare many parents with!
To some parents, that is like saying, "Your child either scratched his elbow or is dead. If you have any questions, please call the school."
How hard can it be to have the system tell the parent that, "Your child was late by 5 minutes." or that "Your child is absent."? Be more specific!

This is especially important for younger students. Parents call the office all the time not having heard the "tardy" part and stressing about the "absent" part. It does set the office up for too many hard conversations every day.
